Floating in the Sea

Paul Kersey, Former Skipper of the Midsummer
~

Sailing quietly out under fore sail only from behind Horse island we shadowed the Hebridian Princess as she made for the Taneria mor anchorage. Hopefully no one paid us heed being a good few miles astern.

The summer islands on the west coast of Scotland are so serene on a summer evening and our plan unfolded perfectly. With the Hebridian Princess swinging quietly to a single anchor and the quality enjoying cocktails on deck we swept into the anchorage under all plain sail, rounded up a cable to the North East and anchored,  sails were stowed and the rendezvous was complete. We had sailed Midsummer over 1500 miles purely to surprise a friend. Romantic nonsense?

No. It's the freedom a sailing vessel gives you and Midsummer is a particularly lovely craft. Practical, graceful and slippery as an eel.

Now this old girl needs her shipmates, old and new to rally round and make her fly again.

A brilliant concept conceived by somone I previously had no knowledge of, but who has become friend.

She will hopefully enhance the lives of those that sail on her, helping veterans to adjust to civilian life and cope with trauma. Some small cargo would give extra purpose and once again she will turn heads as she enters port .

Sincerely,

Paul

Opportunities

Some of the crew are in Kenya with the ship about to enter drydock. We need a good electrician/engineer to check the engines & generator prior to sailing. We are also looking for voluntary crew for the trip from Mombasa to Denmark (sometime in the Fall). Contact us.
